3. What is the minimum Account opening balance for EBL Mariner Account (USD)?

The Account can be opened with zero balance.

4. In which currency can EBL Mariner Account (USD) be opened?

Currently, can be opened in US Dollars only.

6. What is the interest rate applicable for EBL Mariner Account (USD)?

EBL Mariner Account (USD) is a non-interest bearing Account.

7. Can the customer receive Inward Remittance through EBL Mariner Account (USD)?

Yes, customer can receive Inward Remittance through EBL Mariner Account (USD).

8. Is there a Debit Card with EBL Mariner Account (USD), and can it be used abroad?

There is a FCY Debit card with EBL Mariner Account (USD), and you can use it abroad.

9. What are the required documents for opening EBL Mariner Account (USD)?

The following documents are required for opening EBL Mariner Account (USD):

  • Completely filled Account Opening Form,
  • Recent Passport size photo of applicant,
  • Copy of NID (if available)/Valid passport/Birth Registration Certificate with duly attested photo ID,
  • Nominee’s Photo ID and Passport sized Photo,
  • Copy of recent utility bill (within last 6 months)
  • Copy of TIN and Proof of Submission of Tax Return (as per Finance Act’22),
  • A Bangladeshi crew member working in foreign shipping company and Bangladeshi crew member working in Bangladeshi shipping company need to provide:
    • Valid Passport copy,
    • Seaman’s Book or Seafarer’s Record Book (SRB) or Discharge Book or Continuous Discharge Certificate (CDC),
    • Proof of income/employment: Letter from local agent/employer confirming next date of joining vessel or current work contract.

10. How can I convert USD in the EBL Mariner Account (USD) to BDT?

  • Customer can visit any EBL AD Branch to transfer USD from EBL Mariner Account (USD) to BDT in their EBL Current or Savings Account.
  • Alternatively, based on customer instruction from his bank registered email, branch can transfer USD to BDT to customers own BDT Account (within banking hours).

11. Can Customer use the EBL Mariner Account (USD) Debit card within Bangladesh?

Currently the EBL Mariner Account (USD) Debit card cannot be used in local ATM/POS inside Bangladesh. The Debit Card can only be used abroad.

12. What are the fees and charges applicable for EBL Mariner Account (USD)?

All relevant fees as per prevailing Schedule of Charges.

If the account is opened within the campaign period (till 13 June 2024), following charges will be waived:

  • Account Maintenance Fee for 1st year,
  • Debit Card Issuance Fee for 1st year,
  • SMS Transaction Alert Fee for 1st year,
  • Chequebook Issuance Fee for the 1st chequebook.
