Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), in collaboration with Visa, formally launched the Visa Payment Passkey (VPP) in Bangladesh at a ceremony held at the EBL Head Office in Gulshan, Dhaka. This initiative marks a significant step forward in strengthening the security and convenience of online payment authentication for EBL cardholders, replacing traditional OTP based verification methods with a faster, device-based authentication experience.

The launching ceremony was attended by senior officials from both organizations. Present at the event were Sabbir Ahmed, Country Manager – Bangladesh, Nepal & Bhutan, Visa; Tawfique Imam, Head of Products- Bangladesh, Nepal and Bhutan, Visa; and other senior officials of Visa. EBL was representing by Khorshed Anowar, Deputy Managing Director (DMD) and Head of Retail & SME Banking; Ahsan Ullah Chowdhury, Head of Digital Financial Services; Tasnim Hussain, Head of Cards; Faisal M. Fathe-Ul Islam, Head of Digital Payments; along with other senior officials of Eastern Bank PLC.

With the introduction of Visa Payment Passkey, EBL reaffirms its commitment to advancing secure, seamless, and customer-centric digital payment solutions. The new authentication method is expected to reduce transaction friction, improve payment success rates and offer EBL customers a more convenient and reliable online payment experience.
