We write to inform you that as per the recent circular from Bangladesh Bank and National Board of Revenue (NBR), all scheduled banks are instructed to impose 15% VAT on any online payment for services like royalty, online advertisements and various internet services availed from outside the geographic boundary of Bangladesh.
In compliance with the circular, 15% VAT will be imposed on any EBL card transaction for making payments to Facebook, Google, YouTube etc. Kindly consider, the VAT imposition is effective from 1st December, 2019. Please note, VAT might be imposed in the future for similar payments made since 1st July, 2019, if instructed by NBR.
